About GIZA 96

• One of the varieties of Egyptian cotton, often referred to as one of the world’s three finest cottons. Among Giza cottons—numbered in the order of their development—GIZA 96 is the newest extra-long staple variety.

• Naturally rich in oils, the fibers offer an elegant luster and an exceptionally smooth, luxurious feel against the skin.

Origin

• Woven in Nishiwaki City, Hyogo Prefecture, one of Japan’s most renowned cotton-textile regions.

• Thanks to a rich natural environment and highly skilled craftsmanship, the fabric achieves both remarkable suppleness the moment it is worn and a beautifully fluid drape.

 Fabric & Material Craftsmanship

• Made from 100/2 broadcloth (poplin), woven at an ideal thread count of 144 ends × 76 picks, often considered a golden ratio.

• Produced using the traditional yarn-dyed (sakizome) method, a defining characteristic of fabrics historically known as Banshu-ori, named after the region’s former name, Harima.

• Unlike piece-dyed fabrics, yarn-dyed textiles require significantly more time and cost, but result in greater depth, nuance, and refinement in color and pattern.
